Members Clinic Report

A cold but classic clinic held at Barwon Heads this Friday 6 July.

Picture this, 6.30am this morning, rain beating on my roof, ordinarily a beautiful sound……but not on clinic day!
However, as if by magic, after meet, greet, coffee and registration in the cosy lounge of the beautiful Barwon Heads Golf Club, the clouds parted and by the time the first session began, lovely blue-ish clouds replacing the grey doom.
And so we started, 2018 annual member clinic in full swing. OMG it was arctic though and the freezing wind increased during the day, but those intrepid participants soldiered on bravely.

No matter which station I visited on my rounds, all were similar, cold cold wind but enthusiastic women sucking up as much knowledge as they could.

A yummy lunch was a very welcome interlude at 12.30, where the warmth of the clubhouse gave respite from the biting wind. And what a delicious lunch it was. Many thanks to Damian, Nigel and the staff at BH who always treat us to superb lunch and great, generous hospitality. It really is a pleasure to be there, they do it very well at Barwon Heads.
The groans when it was time to once again return to the coal face were very audible, but they were not going to miss a  moment of the excellent tuition that they came for, so out again to continue the instruction.

The interrogation of the coaches at days end was not the scary question time I was expecting! But even after a long day the Pros were still available to answer questions, further opening up this game we love to hate.

Tyson, Jess, Tybin and Marcus

Socialising

Inside warmth

Our coaches this year, a great crew assembled by Jess, my hero. As well as Jess, we had Tybin Lawson (certainly not BOD, unless that stands for Best brother of Deyen!), Tyson Myers and Marcus Hakkinen – wish I had seen the trick shot! and our own Marvellous Mandy.

The coaches could not have performed as they did without their trusty assistants, my own SW girls, Jay, Wee Mac and Lynne, along with Life Member of the Association and loyal friend of SW Joye,  and Shelley, many thanks for your help.

And my fantastic sergeant majors, SW Maz, Mighty Marcia, my mate Marilyn, Delightful Di and Super Sal. All had their charges where they should be at the time they should be, unless a coach kept some girls in detention!

So, we are all home now in the warm, thinking ahhhh, that wasn’t so bad in the cold, just look what I learned! I bet you are keen to try out your skills, however, I’ve just watched the weather forecast for tomorrow, I’m tipping you will put that on hold for a day or two, it’s back to bad weather for a few days, so hold that thought. We were lucky to stay dry today, not so the next few days.

To all, of all those who worked today, making sure everyone enjoyed their time, I thank you sincerely,

To all involved, I wish to express my gratitude to the pro’s Tyson, Marcus, Jess, Tybin & of course Mandy the Chipping Queen. you were so helpful & friendly.
This was a rare opportunity to offer professional tuition to women of mature age with average golfing skills.
I came away equipped with so many new methods to experiment with, and look forward to trying it all out. Great day and very well organised.
