School Sport Australia 12 & Under National Championships underway

The 12 & Under School Sport Australia National Golf Championships got underway today at Portarlington.

The week started with a fun Ambrose event allowing the kids to get into the swing of the event and spend some time on course with their teammates.

The course was presented in fantastic condition and with the weather perfect for scoring there were some terrific results posted.

In the girls event the Queensland team of Yuuki Takada, Caitlin Vanderkruk, Shyla Singh & Sarah Hammett took out the gross event with a fantastic score of 8 under par 64 while the Victoria team of Molly McLean, Gracie Larsen, Sophie Mann & Millie Cassidy were successful in the nett section with a score of 58.7.

In the boys event the NSW No1 team of Harry Atkinson, Adam Ding, Noah Komulainen & Vidur Subramaniam eagled there last hole to finish on 10 under par 62 for a 1 shot win over the Queensland 1 & NSW 2 teams.

The ACT No1 team of Nathan White, Levi Brideson, Thomas Lynch & Henry Kanis took out the boys nett event with a score of 56.5

The Championships head to Curlewis tomorrow starting with an education forum for competitors and parents presented by event Ambassador Stacey Peters followed by a 12.30 Shotgun start for Rd 1 of the Teams Championships.

On Wednesday the competitors will take part in an education day where they will spend the day at Sovereign Hill before returning to Queenscliff on Thursday for Rd 2 of the Championship followed by the Closing Ceremony.
