Latest update from Golf Australia
SWGA Cancellation of all scheduled Events and Pennant for 2020.
It is with regret that the executive must make the following decision. To cancel all SWGA authorized events until further notice.
1, Pennant season 2020 – Men and Women
2, All scheduled SWGA events for the foreseeable future.
From a district perspective regarding gatherings where players are coming from a broader geographic spread than just their club community Golf Australia’s advice is to not hold the events. i.e. pennant, district champs etc.
This advice would also be for club tournaments where visitors would be arriving from varied locations.
Clubs are also now receiving notifications from councils and other governing bodies regarding restricting the use of their facilities, the advice is to limit gatherings and access to facilities.
This will impact events and pennant, as access to hosting pennant and events would be prohibited.
At least 4 other Districts have already made decisions to cancel pennant and postpone events.
The SWGA will also review the impact on Order of merit awards, and if we can run these
Normal local Golf.
Golf Australia is not currently advocating for regular club competitions to cease and we are encouraging that these continue. However, it will be important to continue to monitor Federal and State Government announcements over the coming days that may impact on your golf operations.

Previous Post – Now superseded as above.
South Western Golf Association (SWGA) will continue to closely monitor developments of the COVID-19 virus in line with Australian Government recommendations.
The SWGA wish to advise that our 2020 pennant season and programmed events will proceed as scheduled at this stage.
SWGA will advise all stakeholders should there be a reason to alter our position around participation in any or all of the previously mentioned events.
Obviously the COVID-19 virus situation remains volatile and SWGA stands ready to act on government and Golf Australia advice.
All golf clubs have been provided with information from Golf Australia on how best to manage their respective situations, including expert advice on maintaining personal hygiene.
Additionally, SWGA would suggest that if anyone at club level has flu like symptoms or has had physical contact with someone who has, that they please refrain from attending club and district events, and seek medical advice as required.
