Golfers Go Pink and Play4BCNA

13th Beach turned on its best on Monday 6th December when more than 350 golfers turned out in pink to play for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).  The pandemic forced a major re-think of the event in the last two years but out of adversity comes innovation and the new format sees an inclusive and relaxed approach.

Members, guests and golfers from around the district dressed in pink for the event and joined in the spirit of the day, generously donating to BCNA.  The courses were resplendent with flags and holes dressed in pink and the familiar pink lady silhouettes lining the driveway and marking the ladies’ tees. Making their first appearance this year, blue men silhouettes marked the men’s tees to acknowledge that men also experience breast cancer.

There were plenty of great prizes on offer for Nearest the Pins, Longest Drive and the putting competition. The Selfie competition made a popular come back this year with a bunch of imaginative shots taken which made the judges job a tough gig.

The organising committee would like to commend and thank all golfers who took part in the day and gave so generously to the cause.  Special thanks to all the sponsors who supported the event with donations for the silent auction and raffle.  Thank you also to 13th Beach which makes a significant donation to the charity by donating the green fees generated on the day and by providing support from Golf Ops, Administrationand Course staff.

The committee is currently tallying up the contributions from the day and the final amount is expected to come in at about $21k.  Great effort and sincere thanks to all!
