2022 Jean Russell Salver

2022 Jean Russell Salver Wrap

Friday 27th May saw the running of the 42nd Jean Russell Salver at the picturesque Barwon Valley Golf Club.

There was much anticipation this year, after the 2 previous attempts to conduct this event which was first held in 1979 were abandoned due to Co-Vid 19.

17 pennant clubs fielded teams in the Canadian Foursomes event.

Sunny skies, excellent playing conditions and a very warm welcome from the Management & Committee at Barwon Valley greeted 100 Friday Women pennant players from across the district.

After a number of re-draws & juggling of playing teams to accommodate the late withdrawals, good scores were recorded from many.

The toast of the day went to a team from Anglesea (dual pennant division winners) of Ann Stokes & Louise Crellin with the winning nett score of 70 pipping Apollo Bay’s Vicki Hannah & Stacey Thomas and Fiona Watach & Sue McLean from Queens Park in a countback.

All players were very appreciative of the opportunity to play in this event on a wellpresented course in a friendly but competitive spirit.

Thank you to the Barwon Valley Golf Club hosts for their excellent hospitality from 8 o’clock to close on the day of play and before.
