2025 SWGA Women’s Championships

Sunday November 30th & Monday December 1st

The scenic coastal course of Torquay was the host for the 2025 SWGA Women’s Championships.

The weather was typically unpredictable for late Spring in Victoria. The field of 75 players from across the district battled winds & rain throughout. The golf course was in beautiful condition, with its many water features brimming with rain / tidal run off & errant golf balls.

Last year’s Champion Paige Moorfoot from Curlewis had an early encounter with water but recovered well to play consistent aggressive golf to post an impressive score. Sarah Jenkins from Torquay was playing well & on the chase but the weather was against her on the final 9 leaving her in runner up position.

Champion Paige Moorfoot from Curlewis

Paige was victorious & has achieved rare air with back- to back SWGA Championships. A mighty effort for the 16 year old.

The Audrey McKenzie 27 hole nett Salver was won by Ann Lynch from Barwon Valley with her good opening 18 holes allowing her to win on a countback from Torquay’s Amanda Locke who came storming home on the last 9 holes.

Lorne Golf Club’s Chris Angus has been playing in hot form lately with new golf clubs in the bag. She kept that form going with a terrific 94 gross to easily win the B Grade title from local Kaylene Potter.

With low entries in this field but high excitement, Katrina Lovelock from East Geelong won the Margaret Smith C grade with 39 points from fellow clubbie Judy Mather.

The Rene Austin final had 14 representatives from across the SWGA. Julie Walker from Portarlington scored 105/ 29/76 to win the shield for her club.

Congratulations to all the winners & well done to all the field.

A very special thanks goes to Torquay Golf Club for their hospitality. The course was in magnificent playing condition, perfect for the major & final event on the SWGA Golfing schedule.

Be good to the Golf course & it will be good to you.
