The SWGA Junior District Championships were held at Queenscliff Golf Club on Sunday 27th Nov. The course was presented in fantastic condition and provided a true test of golf for all involved. This was the last junior tournament of the year and at the conclusion of the round we also crowned the Junior Order of Merit winners for the 2022 year.
The winner of the 2022 Girls SWGA Junior District Championship was Paige Moorfoot from Curlewis. Paige had a fantastic year and played in every SWGA junior event. The runner up was Olivia Snart from Clifton Springs, well done Olivia.
The winner of the Girls Order of Merit for the 2022 season was Sophie Johnson from Clifton Springs. Sophie also played in every junior event for the year. Sophie was awarded the Vicki Uwland Bracelet.
The 2022 winner of the Boys SWGA Junior District Championships was Ben Waterson from Lonsdale Links. In a tight finish and coming down to the last putt of the day Ben finished one shot ahead of Max Christie and Ted Sargent from Geelong GC. Well done to all. Ben has shown some fine form towards the later part of the year and the win was well deserved.
The Boys Order of Merit (Bill Cunningham Trophy) winners for the 2022 season were (Gross) Lachie Snart from Clifton Springs and (Nett) Isaac Schammer from Curlewis. Both boys hade very consistent years. Well done to both.
This event rounds out a very successful year. 2022 was our first full year back after COVID and it was great to see so many kids back on the golf course in 2022. Bring on 2023.
