The Victorian Junior Country Regions was played around Bendigo at the Heathcote Golf Club and Belvoir Park Golf Club over the weekend of 16-17 of December. The weather turned it on and the kids enthusiasm going into round 1 on the Saturday afternoon at Heathcote was high.
SWGA had 11 boys and 5 girls representing the district and themselves and we were taking on 4 other regions and super regions from around the state.
Our team was made up of the follow juniors from around our district:
Paige Moorfoot, Tenaiya Jennings, Ele Willis, Ted Sargent, Lachlan Snart, Ben Bowers, Louis Van Ingen, Charlie Larsen, Baily Cooper, Hamish Craig, Christopher Filipowicz, Noah Schammer and James Harry. In addition to this we had Aidan Burns, Sophie Johnson and Daisy Biscan also play in the event.
The team represented the region outstandingly with many great individual performances. In the boys we had Ted Sargent finishing 3rd and Lachlan Snart 6th overall. And in the girls we had Paige Moorfoot finish 3rd and Tenaiya Jennings finish 9th overall. Also in the girls net event Sophie Johnson from Clifton springs finished 2nd.
The highlight of the weekend was once again our win in the Country Regions event (back to back). SWGA finished on top, 8 shot clear of the North Western super region. It was an outstanding performance. Our team displayed great attitude both individually and as a team.
I would like to thank the parents/helpers who assisted on the weekend. Without this help and commitment weekends like this cannot happen.
Once again it was a pleasure to manage the team this year.
