2024 Country Week Wrap Up

Country Week Report from Ann Lynch – Women’s Team Manager

Wow!  what a honour it was to be able to show case our district courses this year for Country Teams. A big week with VICTORY for our Ladies and Men teams.

Our team members were (Torquay) Sarah Jenkins, Kathy Naoumidis (13th beach) Sue Horne, (Clifton Springs) Colleen Manson, Fiona Rogers, (Curlewis) Kylie Mytyk, Vicki Carnie, Jill Pring, Paige Moorfoot, (Portarlington) Meg Pratt.

Caddies and support group were Jill Barker, Bernadette Bogacki, Fiona Scott, Sally Ludlow, Georgie Sanders, Ange Foott & Wendy Tottenham.

Our first match on Monday at Clifton Springs against East Gippsland saw us teeing off at 7.30 am ,we had a nervous but pleasing 4 ½  win . Local champ Colleen Manson was the shining star with her caddie Jill Pring with a convincing 8/7 win. The other winners were Sarah, Kathy, Fiona.

Monday afternoon we were up against a very steady South Gippsland, after a couple of changes to the team SWGA continued to walk tall with a positive 4/3 win. Junior, Paige Moorfoot was the star with an 8/7 win to give her caddie Wendy Tottenham the caddie cash. The other winners were Sue, Meg & Colleen.

Tuesday Morning Round 3 was played at Curlewis. The line up included the 4 home course players. The weather turned yuk & the rain not predicted, caught most players without waterproofs. A convincing team, 6/1 win over Dalhousie & we could nearly taste the champagne.  Vicki Carnie & caddie Bernadette were out of the gates early & shaking hands after only 11 holes. (9/8). Other winners were Sarah, Kathy, Paige, Kylie & Colleen.

Tuesday afternoon the sun came out we were against West Gippsland we had only a couple of changes with players and caddies.  After such a convincing win in the AM we had to keep the pedal down to seal the deal. Yes, there were nerves (especially from team management the gathering onlookers). It was a tough match for our ladies but another success was achieved. Our shining star was Sue Horne 4/3 with her caddie Sally, other winners were Jill, Kylie, & 2 very important squared matches from Meg & Paige.

I am super proud of the way our ladies played, they gave it their all.

It was an honour to be their manager once again and to be able to come away with the Division 2 Alice Coltman Cup trophy.

We are off to Div 1 for 2025.
