Happy New Year From Your President Georgie
From the President
Happy New Year to you all.
Let us all hope 2022 brings some normality into our lives. As I write this I fear we will be facing ups and downs.
Your Womens Golf Ops Team have been busy bringing together the fixture for 2022. All district events will be run and entered through Golf Box .
The men’s confirmed fixture will be posted soon.
New Website
We will no longer be adding events on the calendar on the website which brings me to mention we are developing a new website that should be user friendly and more informative. We anticipate that this will be running by March.
If clubs want to advertise their club events on our website please forward flyers in PDF to
Those clubs with facebook are encouraged to tag us in their post.
Club Visits.
Members of the Board will commence our 2022 visit to all clubs in the district in early February. Once again we will group clubs to ensure quality discussion is shared and limit travelling time. If your club has anything specific to be discussed please contact me prior to the visit.
Contact Details
Can I please ask if contact details for your clubs committee or executive have changed please inform Stacey Thomas at
Special Announcement
The Board of South Western Golf Association is delighted to announce a partnership with the Geelong Community Foundation a major Geelong region philanthropic organisation, with the opening of a Group Sub Fund called “South Western Golf Association Group Sub Fund”. SWGA has committed to raise $10,000 over a three year period.
The SWGA Board feel this partnership will provide an ideal vehicle for golfers and clubs in our district to make an important contribution to those in greater need of support and assistance
Geelong Community Foundation has been in existence for over 20 years and raises funds from individuals, families, bequests and corporate by way of gifts. Each donor’s gift becomes a Community Sub Fund.
These donations are retained as capital by the Foundation to build perpetual and substantial fund for philanthropic purposes, with only the income from this capital used to make local community grants.
The Foundation covers the geographical areas of City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire, Golden Plains Shire and Borough of Queenscliff.
This venture will be launched on 18th March 2022 at Curlewis Golf Club.
To build this commitment and raise valuable funds we are planning a “Festival of Golf” in October 2022 which will be accessible and inclusive to all levels of the golfing family whether from juniors, women, all abilities, seniors through to the hard-core golfer. There will be dedicated golfing events arranged to raise money for the Group Sub Fund as well as using our existing events to promote and grow that fund.
By way of support, it is also our hope that Member Clubs may arrange special golfing events within their golfing calendars whereby donations through competition fees or otherwise are made by those golfers participating which is then deposited into the SWGA Group Sub Fund
This is a very new, unique and positive step for us all within the SWGA to further evidence our support and contribution to warranted community programs.
“Making a Connection”
